HIGH PREVALENCE OF CLASS I AND CLASS II INTEGRONS IN UROPATHOGENIC E. COLI STRAINS (UPECs) AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANCE, PHYLOGENY AND VIRULENCE

Objective: Integrons, which are highly effective in capturing, integrating and expressing gene cassettes, play an important role the dissemination of multiple antibiotic resistances. This study investigated correlations integrons uropathogenic E. coli (UPEC) with resistance, virulence phylogeny also relationships phylogroups resistance. Material Methods: Fifty UPECs isolated from uncomplicated cystitis pyelonephritis were to detect presence class I, II III phylogenetic grouping by PCR method. Their statistical relationship resistance genes using our previous findings. Results: Among 50 UPEC strains, 37 (74%), 22 (44%) only one (2%) strain was shown harbor integrons, respectively. Twenty (42%) strains found carry both I integrons. The majority grouped as phylogroup B2 (38%) E (38%). association ampicillin (p=0.014). Integrons be related neither nor phylogroups; however, PAI (p<0.001), ompT (p=0.035), usp (p<0.001) significantly B2. Phylogroup statistically correlated co-trimoxazole (p=0.043). Conclusion: Consistent studies, results have proven that there is a strong between resistance (especially I) it has been became very prevalent globally.
